Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery - Technology Consultant
These days we face the unfortunate reality that a law office may be inaccessible due to a natural or man-made disaster. What would happen if a fire triggered the sprinkler system in a law office or if an office building was unavailable for an extended period of time? The answer to the problem of business continuity is through the off-site storage of data. Documents and e-mail can be copied, in real time, to a second computer that is located in a secure facility perhaps 40 miles away from the main office. If the main office central computer is down attorneys and staff can access their data on the off-site spare computer from their desks. If the entire office building is unavailable they can access the same information from their homes. Trials in progress need to continue and discovery work has to go on. Document review can't be stopped, correspondence must go out and e-mail communications need to proceed. Business continuity systems can be reasonably priced and can help a firm ensure that key documents are always available so your clients never have to hear, "We can't help you, our systems are down."
