Technology Consultation
When I'm contacted by a law firm or other business to assist with their technology needs the first thing I do is listen to what my client tells me about their firm. What type of law do they practice? Are they business oriented with a need to produce and review contracts? Are they litigators who work long hours and require 24 x 7 access to their systems from remote locations? Do they need courtroom technology? Do they have needs for special software to produce tax returns or review large document collections? What kind of billing software are they used to using? Is it doing the job? Do they require a fully integrated accounting and time and billing package or will a less expensive combination of packages work as well? Often legal research plays an important part in their day to day activities. I listen to what clients see as the weaknesses in their existing system. Are computers slow? Are they inundated with junk mail? Are viruses a problem? Are employees visiting inappropriate websites? Are documents easily accessible or difficult to retrieve?
